O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright;
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
Although the teachings of Christianity have reached all corners of the Earth, the birth date of its inspiration - Jesus
Christ - is still a point of contention.
From an astrologers point of view this is a great shame since the birthchart
of someone so profound should be of exceptional interest and would provide a greater understanding of the man who said to
his friends on the eve of his crucifixion "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me. If you really know me, you will know my father as well." (John 14.6)
We know Yogananda's birth details: 5 January 1893 at 8.38 pm in Gorakhpur, India, at a time when Neptune and Pluto were
conjunct. And we know that he had, like Christ, predicted his own death at the time of his second Saturn return coinciding with
a Jupiter return with both planets being in a T square with his 5th house Sun. We also know that his body didn't decay after death
which is a sign of sainthood in the Christian religion.
The motivation behind Yoganada's teachings was to unify the original teachings of Jesus Christ and the original Yoga taught by Bhagavan Krishna 3,000 years before Christ. Yogananda's aim was: 'To teach that the purpose of life is the evolution, through self
effort, of man's limited mortal consciousness into God Consciousness.'
There seems to be a connection between Yogananda and Christ
and this should be evident in Christ's birthchart.
When was Jesus Christ Born?
Relatively recent interpretations of Romano-Jewish historian Josephus indicate that King Herod died on the 26th of
January 1 BC rather than in 4 BC as previously thought.
A Chart for sunset on that day:
Rectification of Sunset Chart to give Jesus Christ Birth chart
To rectify the sunset chart we need an important date in the life of Jesus and the one of greatest significance is his Crucifixion
which occurred on Friday the 3rd of April 33 AD at 3 pm.
Saturn by Solar Arc is close to the IC which is the 'inner' most point in a birth chart, representing the foundation building blocks
of the native - home, family and where they came from. When Saturn is at this point (as it is in Christ's chart) it signals a
new beginning which would correspond with the beginning of the Christian era and perhaps also with the age of Pisces since Christ's
Rising sign is Pisces. If the IC is rectified to Saturn's position of 22 degrees 36 minutes then this corresponds to a birth time
for Jesus Christ of 6.15.33 pm giving the birth chart below:
This natal chart with the position of transiting planets at the time of crucifixion - April 3rd, 33 AD at 3 pm is shown below:
Points of note are:
- The Full moon and the lunar eclipse are happening right at Jesus's Lunar return which would emphasize its natal
conjunction with Pallas indicating an emotional need for executive planning and a perfectionists desire to protect others
(Moon in Libra in the 7th house conjunct Black Moon). Mars is trine to these three which energizes this effect helping him to
maintain his resolve through the power of thought (Mars in the 3rd house).
- A T square of transiting planets focused on Christ's natal
Sun with Pluto square indicating a battle for justice (Pluto in the 9th house); Jupiter square indicating a wide ranging
exposition of the event (Jupiter in the 3rd); and Mercury on the horizon making a statement.
- Saturn exactly sextile his
Sun and at the midpoint of natal Saturn and Sun, provides a sense of purpose while Neptune opposite his Jupiter/Eris conjunction
in the 5th would inspire martyrdom.
- The quincunx angle (150 degrees) between Sun and Neptune in the 8th house of others
indicates the shuffling off of his mortal coil!
- Jesus natal chart has the shakti power of Juno applied to all of humanity through
the 12th house as a matter of fate (conjunct North Lunar Node); at the time of the crucifixion Juno is approaching a return and
transiting conjunct the North Node.
The actual time of the resurrection is not known, even though the third day is well touted many references say it was actually Sunday
morning before daybreak.
Astrologically it would seem to me to be Monday morning around daybreak which would be the third day.
I
believe this to be so since at day break (5.48.47 am) on Monday the 6th of April 33 AD the Sun is on the horizon and
this creates a series of sextile aspects with Jupiter/Mars, Uranus, the Descendant, Pluto, and Juno that combine to form
an aspect pattern known as the 'Star of David' - a traditional Jewish symbol, named after King David who was said to have
this arrangement in his birth chart.
Add to this the fact that the Moon is transiting conjunct natal Neptune in the 8th house which can be interpreted as a merging of
the emotional self with the collective - and the Moon is sextile his natal Mars in the 10th leaving his mark for providence. Then
there's Saturn square the Sun/Ascendant opposite Vesta - 'the keeper of the flame of life' and forming a T square
with the emphasis on the 'not self ' of the Descendant.
The above chart is for daybreak on the Monday, it is well connected to
the natal chart of Jesus Christ but it is common to all at that time - it is a time of linking between the 'knowing' of Christ the
Father and the omnipresence of God - Jesus Christ was a vehicle of enlightenment and he knew that beyond doubt.
All of this
is very profound - as is Jesus Christ's chart itself and although previously I had doubted that Christ actually rose from the dead,
I now believe that this may have happened - something that ParamahansaYogananda understood and which was at the heart of his teaching.
